Quick and Easy Diamond Scarf

Another quick and easy pattern I created.  This one is great to use up a skein of bulky/super bulky yarn, like Lion Brand Homespun.

Enjoy!

Quick and Easy Diamond Scarf
by Tamara McShea

This is a great project to take along for knitting on the go, and is a great way to use up a skein of any bulky yarn like Lion Brand Homespun.
Size 10 knitting needles
1 Skein Bulky weight yarn (Lion Brand Homespun, for example)
Stitch explanation:  M1 – pick up the horizontal bar between stitches with the left needle, then knit to add one stitch.

Cast on 4 stitches
Diamond Pattern:
1: Knit 1, M1, knit to end of row
2: Repeat step 1 until there are 22 stitches in the row
3: Knit 1, K2tog, knit to end of row
4: Repeat step 3 until there are 4 stitches in the row
Repeat steps 1-4 for the desired amount of diamonds, then bind off the remaining 4 stitches and weave in ends.  End with an odd number of diamonds if possible, so that one hangs at the back of the neck when the scarf is worn.

Sideways Basketweave Scarf

Just wanted to post a pattern that I have registered at Ravelry.  This is a nice pattern for a beginner who wants a bit of a challenge.  Skills involve knit, purl, cast on and bind off.  Pretty simple, but a nice result.  Enjoy!

I created this pattern for my Grandmother’s 98th birthday present.  She used to knit all the time, and I would like to think that I got my love of it from her.  This was a stitch I saw her use in a cotton dishcloth once, and I have always loved it.  I made it large to make it easier for her to see, and used a nice soft chunky yarn so that she can feel how soft it is.  The finished product is about 9 feet long!  (It can be made shorter by casting on fewer multiples of 10)
